This is a movie of the indentation of a slab of alpha-alumina (Al
2
O
3
) by a diamond tip. (To see the deformation inside the alumina, go to "slab mode": click right mouse button on picture, go to options, then slab mode. Control key + left mouse button determines the depth of the cross-sectional cut-away into the alumina.
