ORNL Ultra-High Shear Rate Optical Rheometer

*     *     *

The Ultra-High Shear Rate Optical Rheometer has several attractive features

  • High shear rates: Parallel-plate rotational rheometer
  • Very small gap yields very high shear rates
  • Negligible viscous heating
  • Transparent disk and slider allow for optical measurements
  • Simultaneous rheological and optical studies for a wide range of systems
  • In situ sample thickness monitoring via capacitance
